About
I have a PhD in Cultural studies from St. Petersburg State University, Russia (2008). I have published several articles in Russian on topics connected with my PhD thesis ("The Status of Norms in Culture").
My academic interests include audience studies and television studies, foreign television impact and globalization studies.
My current project aims to examine effects that low quality translation and dubbing of American programming on Russian television have on perceptions of American popular culture and America in general among Russian audiences.
I speak five languages: Russian (mother tongue), English (fluent), Spanish (advanced), German (intermediate), French (intermediate). Learning languages is my hobby.
-------------
In fall 2011 I will start my first year of studies in Mass Media & Communication doctoral program at Temple University, Philadelphia, where I have been awarded a University Fellowship.
