My dissertation is a study of how the legal boundary between youth and adulthood was renegotiated and reconfigured in the United States during the "long" 1970s. It focuses on adjustments to age limit laws, such as the voting age, drinking age, and age of majority, and analyzes debates about the meaning and delineation of adulthood that took place at both the state and federal level between the late 1960s and early 1980s.
